On Friday 20th March, to celebrate the launch of her latest book, the children of Wroxham attended a Completely Cassidy PJ party hosted by our patron of reading Tamsyn Murray.
The children had a wonderful time (so did the staff!) sharing popcorn whilst singing the songs from Frozen. There was a prize for Best Singer which was awarded to Bailey in Year 3 for his very enthusiastic singing and ‘air grabs’!
Everyone went home with a fantastic goody bag containing a signed copy of Completely Cassidy: Accidental Genius, Rolos and a Wham bar.
Thank you Tamsyn for a thoroughly enjoyable evening!
It’s Tamsyn here. This is just a quick post to say how fantastic it was to see you on World Book Day last week (in your amazing costumes) and to present the Patron’s Cup. I am still in awe of how many books you read – WOW! Remember, I’d love to read your reviews of some of the books you read. And I’m really looking forward to seeing some of you next week at the Completely Cassidy Pyjama Party – there’s going to be a prize for the best singer so start practicing now…
I also wanted to let you know that Completely Cassidy: Accidental Genius has been chosen to be part of The Reading Agency’s Summer Reading Challenge, which is fantastic news. I’m sure most of you have heard of this – it’s run with your local library over the summer holiday and it challenges you to read six books while you are off school. There are loads of fabulous titles on the lists (one for older readers and one for younger readers – can you spot Completely Cassidy?) and I would really love it if loads of you took part this year, especially since reading six books will be EASY when you have all just blown that total out of the water for the Patron’s Cup.
And don’t forget you can enter my short story competition and win £100 worth of books! All the details for that are on the Completely Cassidy website
See you soon!
The children and staff at Wroxham have had so much fun today dressing up as a character from their favourite book. We had some wonderful outfits as you can see in the slideshow below. We also had a visit from Tamsyn Murray, our Patron of Reading, who presented Reception, Year 1, Year 4 and Year 6 with their trophies for winning the Patron’s Cup Reading Challenge. The pupils read an amazing total of 6113 books in four weeks, Diya from Year 4 received a Star Reader award for reading a staggering 205 books! Even though the challenge has ended don’t forget to keep reading because reading really rocks!
Our patron of reading Tamsyn Murray has written an article for the Guardian newspaper with some great tips for writing stories. They could prove very useful if you are thinking of entering Tamsyn’s 500 word writing competition!
